Why have we made restoring this car such a priority in our lives? Please look at this list of all business cars in the United States and (if assigned) their Amtrak number. These numbers were assigned in the mid 1980's. From this list, every business car in the United States built through 1930 is listed in the following table. Notice that the Abraham Lincoln (800013) and the Dixie (800171) are the only 1910 business cars left in the US. Of all these cars, most have been modernized inside during their maintenance and rebuilding over the years so the Lincoln's historical significance is enhanced since it is one of the only cars remaining which has been completely restored to its period. Furthermore, obtaining an Amtrak number does not require that the car has undergone recent inspections and is rail ready. The status of most of these cars is unknown.
